World Day for Safety and Health at Work
Today we celebrate World Day for Safety and Health at work.
In a time where Covid-19 dominates the healthcare industry, the importance of occupational safety in medical settings has never been greater. Infection control has taken centre stage in recent months, but with such a high number of patients coming through the doors of hospitals, the risk of clinicians obtaining a manual handling injury has also increased.
The best way to reduce the risk, is to remove the need for staff to reposition patients manually. Howard Wright trolleys contour to a wide range of positions at the touch of a button, including a comfortable seated position where the patient’s knees can be slightly lifted, reducing pressure, and preventing them from migrating toward the end of the trolley. The trolleys also lower to a class-leading height of 35cm, ensuring safer patient transfers needing less physical intervention.
“Over the last 24 months the Emergency Department at North Devon District Hospital have standardised with the Howard Wright M9 range, including the M9 Trauma and the M9 Short Stay. The transition from manual profiling trolleys to low height, electric profiling has been greatly received by clinical staff, as well as our patients. The M9 range with its features and benefits has contributed to creating a safer environment for our patients and staff.”
